Prior to joining SCAN, Ali served as vice president/practice director for Avalere Communications in Washington, D.C., a group within Avalere Health that houses the firm’s strategic, creative, marketing and digital disciplines focused on multi-channel communication programs on behalf of customers. Avalere Health is one of the nation’s leading advisory companies concentrated on healthcare business strategy and public policy.

“The continued success of any organization depends greatly on truly understanding what its customers want and then finding a way to deliver that in a meaningful way,” said SCAN President and CEO Chris Wing. “Riaz will lead an enhanced effort at SCAN to better understand what today’s seniors are looking for in their health coverage and what is important to them as we build and deliver products, services and programs that consistently meet their needs and hopefully exceed their expectations.”

Over his 15 year career, Ali has envisioned, developed and managed integrated marketing and communications campaigns for healthcare, financial services, and telecommunications companies and has demonstrated substantive expertise in healthcare policy and business issues affecting health plans, providers, pharma/biotech, and other healthcare stakeholders. He holds a master’s degree in public policy, health and international policy from Georgetown University and a Bachelor of Arts degree from Columbia University in New York.

“SCAN has a powerful brand in the marketplace, earned over 37 years of serving seniors. Today it remains true to its nonprofit mission and maintains an obsessive focus on quality and member service,” said Ali. “I am excited to work with the great team at SCAN to find new ways to expand and build upon that brand equity so SCAN can continue to lead an industry undergoing tremendous change as our population ages.”
