Dell and ikaSystems Form Strategic Alliance to Help Payers Reduce Administrative Costs Through Advanced Processing Automat

  • Strategic alliance combines Dell’s extensive payer services experience and healthcare cloud expertise with ikaSystems’ flexible, scalable, cloud-based suite of integrated administrative and care management solutions
  • Designed to help payers optimize daily operations, reduce administrative costs and increase operational efficiencies while meeting changing regulatory demands

PLANO, Texas & SOUTHBOROUGH, Mass.--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Dell and ikaSystems announced today that they have formed a strategic alliance to deliver advanced administration and care management solutions to healthcare payers. By combining Dell’s breadth of healthcare business process outsourcing (BPO) and technology services with ikaSystems’ cloud-based, collaborative technology platform, payers will be able to quickly deploy a flexible, scalable platform to manage daily operations, help significantly reduce administrative costs and meet regulatory requirements with minimal upfront investment.

As payers prepare to implement state health insurance exchanges, meet HIPAA 5010 and ICD-10 transition requirements and reduce their Administrative Loss Ratio (ALR) as mandated by the healthcare reform legislation, their need for a comprehensive end-to-end software solution is greater than ever. The solution provided by ikaSystems and Dell will help payers quickly, easily and cost-effectively meet these challenges, while also encompassing day-to-day operations such as enrollment, member and payment reconciliation, claims processing, billing and commission payments, and customer service.

The strategic alliance will enable Dell to harness ikaSystems’ flexibility and rapid time-to-value, helping payers significantly reduce administrative costs and streamline processes. At the same time, ikaSystems will gain hands-on, well-trained implementation resources to support its rapid growth. With more than 20 years industry experience, Dell is a market leader in BPO services, including onsite, at home processing and domestic and global service center solutions for all levels of claims processing, auditing and customer service functions. ikaSystems delivers a premiere enterprise-level cloud computing software that meets the majority of a health plan’s technology needs, working across all health plan departments and business lines to help health plans optimize the allocation of premiums between administrative costs, medical costs and health plan profits.

“The market opportunity for BPO services has never been greater. State Medicaid programs, federal Medicare administrative contractors, and health plans with commercial, Medicare and Medicaid business lines are all looking for ways to reduce their administrative costs. However, BPO companies and many payer organizations are still using core claims administration systems built on older technologies and surrounded by fragmented, often homegrown systems or even manual processes. BPO companies are being challenged to provide compelling administrative cost savings to the market. This strategic alliance, combining Dell’s process excellence with our comprehensive technology platform, represents a fundamental shift in BPO service delivery. The ability to collect information directly from its source and distribute the same information to every function that needs it reduces the touch points required to achieve each business goal, and will result in a level of financial savings hitherto impossible to achieve.” –- Ravi Ika, chief executive officer, ikaSystems

“Our goal is to provide payers with advanced tools, technologies and business process services to meet their business objectives, which is why we conducted extensive research to identify a solution that specifically meets the evolving needs of payers. We found ikaSystems to provide the best offering to help payers easily and cost-effectively reduce administrative costs, streamline operations and meet regulations, and we are pleased to work together to serve our customers.” –- Tim Quigley, executive director, Dell Healthcare & Life Sciences Services
