SALT LAKE CITY--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals®, a charity that raises funds for 170 children’s hospitals, announced today the results of its annual fundraising campaign with its largest partner, Walmart and Sam’s Club stores. Between May 1 and June 13, the company’s associates, customers and members raised more than $27.9 million – far exceeding the fundraising goal of $20 million.
During the six-week campaign, Walmart and Sam’s Club customers and members were invited to make a donation of $1, $2 or $5 at the register to the Children's Miracle Network Hospital in their community. Additional in-store fundraisers were held to bolster fundraising efforts.
“Year after year, Walmart and Sam’s Club customers, members and associates demonstrate what can happen when people come together to support a cause as important as children’s hospitals,” said John Lauck, president and CEO, Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals. “Raising $27.9 million a dollar or two at a time in just six weeks is remarkable. We are grateful to Walmart and Sam’s Club for encouraging customers and members to support their local Children’s Miracle Network Hospital.”
“Our annual fundraising campaign provides our customers with the opportunity to help children in their own communities by giving directly to their local Children's Miracle Network Hospital,” said Matt Cockrell, director of giving at the Walmart Foundation.
The retailer’s support for Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals began in 1987. Since then, Walmart and Sam’s Club associates, customers and members have raised and contributed more than $550 million to Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals, the most ever raised for children’s hospitals by a Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals partner.
