"We are honored to have Gayathri earn such a prestigious merit with ACHE," said Gustavo Valdespino, President and CEO for VPH. "Becoming a Fellow not only validates her professional competency, but it also validates her ongoing commitment to excellence to the hospital family and the community that we serve."

Gayathri originally joined ACHE as a student associate during her MPH program at University of California, Los Angeles. She became a member in 2002 and earned her fellowship status this year. Gayathri has given back to students and the community by teaching Healthcare Administration courses, starting an internship program at VPH – serving as a mentor/preceptor, and by participating in many fundraising opportunities, just to name a few. She also serves as a member of ACHE Regent's Advisory Council.

ACHE Fellow status represents achievement of the highest standard of professional development. Only 7,500 healthcare executives, or 25% of the total national ACHE membership, hold this distinction. To obtain Fellow status, candidates must fulfill multiple requirements, including passing a comprehensive examination, meeting academic and experiential criteria, earning continuing education credits and demonstrating professional/community involvement. Fellows are also committed to ongoing professional development and undergo recertification every three years.
