UIC Family Business Council September 30 Workshop on Impact of Healthcare Reform for Business Owners

CHICAGO--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Business owners and their human resources staff will learn about the drastic changes in store for the nation’s healthcare system over the next few years in a September 30 educational workshop presented by the UIC Family Business Council. The event will be held at The Clubhouse in Oak Brook starting with a continental breakfast at 9:30 a.m. to be followed by back-to-back workshops from 10 a.m. to noon. The first workshop will spotlight the changes in healthcare reform, and the second will focus on new sources of funding for small businesses.

Marcus Newman, Vice President of GCG Financial in Bannockburn, will shed light on key provisions of President Obama’s overall of the nation’s healthcare system: the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (PPACA) and the revisions in the Health Care and Education Reconciliation Act. Mr. Newman explains that small and mid-sized businesses need to understand these increases in their health insurance costs. “It is time to start thinking about how to deal with all of the changes in health insurance starting with hyperinflation of cost. On average we are already seeing increases of 25-30 percent pre-PPACA.”

The second workshop will be presented by Nisha Floyd, Director of Business Development for the Alliance for Illinois Manufacturing. Ms. Floyd will advise business owners about various grants, assistance programs, energy audits, loans and other forms of assistance that are available to their businesses.

Business owners interested in attending the Impact of Healthcare Reform Workshop should visit www.uicfbc.com and click on ‘Events’ for more information and registration. Registration is $25 a person.
