Premier Healthcare Alliance Experts to Address Health Reform, ACOs

CHARLOTTE, N.C.--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Experts from the Premier healthcare alliance will speak around the country in November and December discussing health reform and accountable care organizations (ACOs).

Institute for Healthcare Improvement’s (IHI) 22ndNational Forum (12/5 - 12/8, Orlando)

Premier President and CEO Susan DeVore will discuss health reform and ways to provide high-performing healthcare in America. Premier alliance members work together to improve quality and reduce costs across the care continuum by participating in collaboratives such as:

Representatives from AtlantiCare and WellStar Health System, members of Premier’s ACO Implementation Collaborative, and Jeff Petry, vice president of business development for Premier, will lead a discussion on ACOs and how to meet reform challenges facing providers. Nearly 80 health systems representing more than 300 hospitals are participating in Premier’s ACO collaboratives.

Richard Bankowitz, MD, MBA, FACP, Premier enterprise-wide chief medical officer, and Carolyn Scott, RN, MED, MHA, Premier vice president of Performance Improvement and Quality, will also be at IHI to discuss year two achievements in QUEST. In the first 18 months of the project, QUEST participants saved an estimated 14,000 lives and $1 billion.

Additional events

Bankowitz will speak at the American Association of Medical Administrators Annual Conference on November 17 in Clearwater Beach, Fla. He will discuss the impact of health reform on federal and private healthcare.

On December 2, Petry will speak at the Society for Healthcare Strategy and Market Development in Charleston, S.C. He will discuss how ACOs are a way to change healthcare delivery to improve the health status, efficiency and experience of care for a defined population.

Brent Hardaway, vice president of Premier Consulting Solutions will speak at the HCap Where Healthcare Meets Capitol Conference in Washington on December 7. He will discuss the rise of ACOs and why they are an important factor in making advances to healthcare nationwide.
