Holon: The Process Adaptive Interoperability Framework

Greenville Hospital System University Medical Center goes live on Holon's Medication Management Solution

ATLANTA, Jan. 25, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Holon, the new standard for healthcare interoperability, today announced the go-live of Holon's COEP (Central Order Entry Pharmacy) Medication Order Management solution at all Greenville Hospital System University Medical Center (GHS) facilities.

"The Holon Medication Order Management Solution improves our current COEP processes and provides us with the solution to effectively manage the workflow between and among our 12 satellite pharmacies and our Central Order Entry Pharmacy while also promoting medication administration safety for our patients," said Fred Bender, Director of Pharmacy. "The Holon Solution is a critical element in helping us decrease medical errors and migrate toward a paperless environment, which are key goals laid out in our Strategic IS Plan."

"We are excited to work with a healthcare delivery system as established and prestigious as Greenville," said Pierce English, President and CEO of Holon.  "Holon has been developing solutions to help organizations meet their data and workflow interoperability challenges and to bring information and people together in rapid, cost-effective and meaningful ways for several years.  We are dedicated to the development of pharmacy systems that support COEP and other solutions that will help advance our customer's reputations as centers of excellence in patient care."

GHS began its search for a new solution, designed around their processes, about 24 months ago.  Their minimum requirement was to be able to match the functionality they had with their current medication management vendor and then do it better.

"Holon listened, got feedback and proved that they could deliver on their promises," said Richard Capps, Pharmacy Manager.  "Show stoppers for us were the ability to deliver familiar screen views and a scheduling solution that was easier to use and that automated the workflows throughout our five-campus, 13-pharmacy system.  Our central pharmacy is open 24x7.  All of the satellite pharmacies, designed to keep our pharmacists closer to the patients they serve, operate different and varying hours.  The Holon solution automatically sends the work to the right place at the right time meaning that our staff does not have to go looking for the work. Desktop integration with our Siemen's Pharmacy system makes the order management process easier, more accurate and faster."

"We are undertaking a critical project to implement Siemen's Sorian across our organization, including CPOE.  We believe the CPOE medication ordering system will be improved by Holon.  Not only will it integrate with Siemen's Med Administration Check (MAC) system, but it will continue to facilitate order viewing, follow-up and routing," added Capps.
