Rita Bowen, Past President of AHIMA, Joins HealthPort’s Executive Team to Further Client Satisfaction Goals
ALPHARETTA, Ga.--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- HealthPort, the industry authority on the HIPAA-compliant exchange of protected health information through release of information services and audit management technology announced today that Rita K. Bowen, MA, RHIA, CHPS, SSGB, and Past President of The American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA), has joined the company to serve as the Senior Vice President of HIM and Privacy Officer. In her new role, Bowen will act as an internal customer advocate to ensure HealthPort’s clients’ business needs are understood and met. Her role includes developing and maintaining relationships with customers to identify opportunities and implement solutions to maximize customer satisfaction.

Rita Bowen’s extensive professional achievements include: serving on the Board of Directors for AHIMA and liaison for the HIMSS Healthcare security. Additionally she is the recipient of Tennessee HIMA’s Distinguished Member Award, the Achievement Award; and the AHIMA Triumph Award for Mentoring, which is the highest recognition of excellence, dedication and service for advancing the field of HIM.
Bowen holds RHIA, CHPS, and SSGB and earned her Master’s in Health Information Technology. For the past thirteen years, she has served as the Enterprise Administrative Director of Health Information for Erlanger Health System in Chattanooga, Tennessee.
