Companion Data Services Awarded New Contract for Medicare Data Warehouse

COLUMBIA, S.C., Oct. 1 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Companion Data Services, LLC (CDS), which provides innovative health information technology services to both government and commercial entities, has won a new three-year contract to continue hosting an electronic data warehouse that supports the federal Medicare program's Recovery Audit Contractors.

Maryland-based Quality Software Services Inc. (QSSI), the prime contractor for the project, selected CDS to host the Recovery Audit Contractors Data Warehouse (RACDW) in CDS's state-of-the-art data center in Columbia, S.C. Recovery Audit Contractors (RACs) identify Medicare overpayments and underpayments to health care providers. The RACs utilize the data warehouse to coordinate their efforts.

In addition to working as a subcontractor on several Medicare programs, CDS also provides information technology services directly to the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) and private health care companies. CDS operates one of the largest, most secure health care information data centers in the world from its Columbia headquarters. The company processes more than 760 million health insurance claims annually.

"CDS is extremely pleased to continue supporting our partner QSSI as it operates this vital system for the Medicare program," said Lola Jordan, CDS's chief operating officer.
