VICTORVILLE, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Residents in the high desert area will soon have access to a comprehensive new health resource aimed at helping them achieve or maintain a healthy lifestyle. The Grand Opening of the Wellness Center, a community service sponsored by Alliance Desert Physicians, will be held on Wednesday, November 10, from 4 to 6:30 pm. The event will feature free flu shots and screenings for high blood pressure, glucose and cholesterol, as well as body mass index measurements.
The Wellness Center will offer an array of educational and screening services at no- or low-cost. Free health education lectures will be offered by Alliance Desert Physicians on such topics as healthy aging, diet and exercise, and living with heart disease. Community members will also be able to take advantage of health screenings, such as blood sugar checks for diabetes, blood pressure screens and more. Other services to be offered include personalized medical assessments, evaluation of medications, nutritionist consultations, routine podiatry, and disease management and referrals. Free Medicare seminars will help seniors make informed decisions when it is time to select a physician or health plan during open enrollment. Seminars are open to all seniors at no cost or obligation and will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, November 15, Thursday, November 18 and Friday, December 3. An evening seminar is planned for Tuesday, November 30 at 5:30 p.m.
