LAS VEGAS—CAQH has rebranded as DataSpring, a name leaders say reflect the organizations push toward a more modern and innovative future.
The Council for Affordable Quality Healthcare was founded more than 25 years ago and has evolved from its initial mission to make healthcare work better for patients, now offering critical data services to both providers and payers.
The DataSpring name "reflects the organization’s central role in delivering a connected healthcare ecosystem through accurate, authorized data from providers and payers," per an announcement. The group announced the rebrand at the AHIP 2026 conference this week, with signage across Las Vegas reflecting the new identity.
Sarah Ahmad, CEO of DataSpring, told Fierce Healthcare that the new brand represents CAQH's past even as the team looks to the future.
"We had historically been thought of as a a bit of an industry utility," she said. "I don't have a problem with that, because I think utilities have a strong purpose in the world."
"However, you know, we have a new place that we want to head as an organization, because the world is also changing around us," Ahmad said.
She said that the CAQH team decided that it was necessary to evolve alongside the evolving industry, and continue to offer the same key services that payers and providers expect, but with a new and more "innovative spirit."
DataSpring launches with CAQH's existing foundation that includes 4.8 million provider-sourced records and a platform that links eligibility data across more than three-quarters of covered lives in the U.S. Building on that base, the team plans to launch new solutions in the coming months.
Ahmad said that one of the focus areas has been finding ways to streamline administrative processes in its provider-facing platforms and make the experience feel more intuitive and simple.
Erin Richter Weber, chief growth officer for DataSpring, said this step feels like a natural evolution from the organization launching its first platforms all those years ago.
"We created this transformation, and now we're kind of jumping the curve again to the freshness of Data Spring," she told Fierce.
Getting to DataSpring as the new brand identity required plenty of iteration and discussion with the leadership team at CAQH, Ahmad said. Weber said that included diving into what they meant to convey through the word "spring," ultimately settling on reflecting a fresh water spring in tandem with the concept of "springing forward" into a new, more modern future.
Ahmad added that the process began with research into the industry and leaning on outside resources, then grew from those internal conversations.
"It fits where we are," Weber said.
