Artificial intelligence-enabled virtual care company Counsel Health is building out its clinical offerings to include lifestyle and chronic condition services.
The expansion will first focus on lifestyle conditions, including hair loss and sexual health, with plans to broaden its scope to chronic conditions later in 2026, including services to address high cholesterol and obesity.
If its chatbot recommends consultation with a physician, users can pay $29 to schedule follow-up care. Counsel Signature members, the company’s annual membership plan, will be able to use the expanded capabilities at no extra cost, according to a company announcement.
The company aims to transform healthcare delivery while simultaneously lowering the cost of care by relying on chat-based care. Counsel made its AI chatbot free for consumers in October, alongside a $25 million series A funding announcement.
About 75% of adults in the U.S. have at least one chronic condition, with more than 50% having at least two or more, according to the CDC. This, according to Counsel Health, places “sustained pressure on an already constrained healthcare system.”
A March 2026 analysis from Vizient found 11% of the U.S. population with multiple chronic conditions accounted for 52% of inpatient admissions claims in 2025. Seventy-two percent of these admissions were covered by Medicare and another 10% by Medicaid.
Counsel Health Chief Medical Officer Rishi Khakhkhar, M.D., said in the announcement the company’s model is “designed for the modern era of healthcare.”
“This expansion allows us to treat a broader range of conditions while maintaining clinical rigor and continuity,” Khakhkhar said. “Patients can check in anytime, receive immediate medical advice, and connect with a physician in minutes, building a longitudinal relationship that removes the friction of traditional care models.”
