Envision Healthcare
What's the move: In February, it was announced Envision Healthcare CEO Chris Holden would step down from physician staffing giant Envision Healthcare.
Who succeeded him: James Rechtin was appointed president and CEO in February. Rechtin previously served as president of OptumCare. He was also previously regional president of DaVita Medical Group.
What to know: Envision didn't offer a reason for Holden's departure. The news comes as Congress is taking a closer look at Envision's billing practices, and the reveal that the staffing firm's owner, KKR & Co., was pouring millions into ad campaigns to combat legislation on surprise billing.
Rechtin took the reins at a pivotal time just as the COVID-19 pandemic was reaching across the U.S. The company has been hit hard financially as volumes decreased 33% and sales dropped 39% in the second quarter, Bloomberg reported.
Before DaVita, Rechtin was a partner in the healthcare practice of global consulting firm Bain & Company, where he focused on supporting hospital systems and other providers in the shift to value and in their development of physician network strategies.
Quotable: “I appreciate the trust and support of my Envision family over the past 13 years, and I am confident that our outstanding leadership team will continue the great progress we have made together," Holden said in a statement in February.
