Humana is bringing its CenterWell clinics to the Dallas-Fort Worth region, with plans to open 10 locations across the market over the course of this year.
The first two locations in the metroplex will open Feb. 1 and Feb. 2, the insurer said in an announcement. Humana is aiming to significantly expand the reach of CenterWell over the next several years and said it intends to open between 30 and 50 centers each year through 2025.
CenterWell and its sister company, Conviva Care Center, offer senior-focused primary care at more than 220 locations across 11 states.
“The Dallas-Fort Worth area continues its rapid growth, and a good portion of that growth is in the senior population,” said Sue Lamb, market vice president for Dallas-Fort Worth, in the announcement. “We are just thrilled to be entering this market right now. With our focus on underserved communities, we bring a new level of access to quality, coordinated care for seniors in this important market.”
Each of the locations in the Dallas-Fort Worth area will be staffed with board-certified physicians, nurses and behavioral health specialists, Humana said. Patients can also access services from clinical pharmacists and referal specialists who are trained to treat seniors.
CenterWell facilities also offer an activity center for seniors in the community, Humana said.
“Because of our attention to the whole person, we can spend 30 to 40 minutes with each patient every time they come in, which is two to three times longer than what they may be used to at traditional doctors’ offices," Theresa Brown, CenterWell’s west divisional chief medical officer, said in the release." Our integrated care teams know that seniors often contend with a variety of physical, social and emotional needs, all of which affect their overall health. We work to address each of the factors that contribute to a patient’s wellbeing.”
