Anna Brown has been named chief diversity, equity and inclusion officer for Mass General Brigham.

Brown formerly held the same role at Baker McKenzie, an international law firm comprised of 13,000 employees. In her six-year tenure at the law firm, she instituted many initiatives, policies and best practices for promoting company inclusion.

Brown began her career as a critical care nurse before earning her J.D. at Howard University and becoming a practicing lawyer in international finance and capital markets. She has previously held the position of associate general counsel at Continuum Health Partners.

Carla Carten has held the position of chief diversity, equity and inclusion officer in an interim capacity since June 2021 and will continue to serve as executive director of the office.


Humana Military

Karen Moran has been hired as president of Humana Military as of the first of the year. She is the first woman to hold the position.

Moran comes to the Humana subsidiary from EmblemHealth, where she held the position of senior vice president of commercial business and president of ConnectiCare, the Connecticut-based health insurance company. She was previously the executive director of Aetna’s Federal Plans business.

Brent Densford preceded Moran in the position. He will be retiring after 32 years at Humana. During his three decades at the payer, he held various roles including vice president of business development and regional vice president of sales enablement.

For 25 years, Humana Military has partnered with the U.S. Department of Defense and the Defense Health Agency to administer the TRICARE health program to 6 million U.S. military active duty, retirees and family member beneficiaries in the east region.

Sachin Agrawal has been unveiled as the new chief executive officer of virtual care platform eVisit.

After Agrawal joined the company as president in June 2022, he worked to reimagine the company’s go-to-market strategy by expanding the company’s sales and marketing leadership teams with members who hold extensive healthcare IT experience. He has helped the company pivot toward access, safety and quality post-pandemic virtual care.

Agrawal previously held the position of president of strategy, corporate development and data at RLDatix, chief communication officer at Tea Leaves Health and senior vice president at Everyday Health.

EVisit secured $45 million in series B funding at the end of 2021 to reach a total funding amount of $110.8 million. Agrawal will follow Bret Larsen as CEO while Larsen will move to the role of executive chairman of the board. Larsen helped found the company in 2014, and, under his leadership, the company raised over $75 million.


Hicuity Health

Young Ahn has been welcomed as the chief medical officer of provider-to-provider telemedicine service Hicuity Health.

Ahn most recently held the position of deputy chief medical officer at Jaihui Health, the largest international hospital system in Shanghai, China. Previously, he worked as a physician and medical directory of perioperative services at Kaiser Permanente in Washington, D.C. He also held the position of clinical assistant professor of anesthesiology and critical care medicine at UCLA.

Hicuity Health has been in the telemedicine space for 17 years with a line of services including virtual nursing, tele-ICU, remote inpatient telemetry and smart device monitoring. The company was awarded the “Best Overall Telemedicine Platform” in the 2022 MedTech Breakthrough Awards.

> The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention tapped leaders for two newly formed offices. Leandris Liburd, Ph.D., was named acting director of the Office of Health EquityJennifer Layden, M.D., Ph.D., will be the acting director for the Office of Public Health Data, Surveillance and Technology.

> Firefly Health announced that former Lieutenant Governor of Massachusetts Karyn Polito has joined the digital health provider’s advisory council.

> The Advanced Research Projects Agency for Health has tapped former chief data officer of the Department of Health and Human Services Kevin Duvall as acting chief information officer

> Zócalo Health has appointed Sara Lopez as the provider's first Latina chief medical officer of the healthcare service designed by and for Latino patients.

> New Ocean Health Solutions promoted Marnie Hall to the role of chief marketing and strategy officer.

> AMC Health welcomes a new chief operating officer of the virtual care and remote patient monitoring company, James Considine.

> Kaufman Hall appointed Kate Guelich to president of management consulting operations.

> Wheel announced that Vincent Balsamo will fill the role of chief revenue officer for the health tech company.

> Unity Health Care chose Stephanie Cox-Batson, M.D., as its chief medical officer

> Onward, a medical technology company, unveiled the new role of vice president of global clinical and regulatory which will be filled by Erika Ross. Sarah Moore will join the company as vice president of global marketing.

> Intuitive Ventures welcomes new Director Murielle Thinard McClane and has promoted Vivian Golfin and Jotthe Kannappan to senior associates.

> MPulse Mobile, a provider of conversational AI and digital engagement solutions for the healthcare industry, is expanding its executive team by appointing Jay Brookes to the role of chief sales officer and Brendan McClure to chief marketing officer.

> SnapNurse named Jeff Grant as chief executive officer of the healthcare hiring platform.

> Samaritan Medical Group has picked Julie Osgood as its new chief operating officer

> Quartz has named Jeff Butcher as senior vice president and chief financial officer of the payer.
