Pauline M. Camacho, M.D., F.A.C.E., was elected Treasurer of the (AACE) at its in Phoenix, on Sunday, May 5, 2013.

“I am extremely excited to be moving up in the leadership of AACE and to my new position as Treasurer. In my new role, I look forward to helping our organization improve our fiscal stability by looking at new and innovative ideas for revenue generation and self-sufficiency,” said Dr. Camacho. “I think that we can make great strides in this direction this year, through the concerted efforts of our executive committee, staff and board of directors.”

As Treasurer, Dr. Camacho will oversee the collection, retention and expenditure of all AACE funds. She will also serve as Chair of the Finance Committee, on the Executive Committee and on the Association’s Board of Directors.

Dr. Camacho is an endocrinologist at Loyola University Medical Center in Illinois. She is a Professor of Medicine and Director of the Loyola University Osteoporosis and Metabolic Bone Disease Center. She is also the Program Director for the Endocrinology Fellowship Program at Loyola.

Dr. Camacho has been actively involved with AACE since her fellowship. She served as the Fellow-in-Training (FIT) representative to the Board of Directors from 1999-2000 and was then elected to the AACE Board of Directors in 2003. During her six-year term on the Board, she headed the FIT Committee and was a member of the Membership, International, Education Services, and Legislative and Regulatory Committees. She was a member of the AACE Annual Meeting Program Committee for a total of five years, was Vice Chair in 2008, Co-Chair in 2009, and Chair in 2011. Dr. Camacho is currently the Chair of the Publications Committee. She chaired the Clinical Practice Guidelines (CPG) Subcommittee for a number of years and served on the Postmenopausal Osteoporosis CPG Writing Group.

She is currently serving her second term on the American College of Endocrinology Board of Trustees and led the F.A.C.E. Application Committee in 2010-2011. Dr. Camacho spearheaded the ABIM SEP session in 2009, which will be on its fifth year in 2013, and is now actively representing AACE in the National Bone Health Alliance.

Dr. Camacho has published three books: “Evidence Based Endocrinology”,“Osteoporosis: A Guide for Clinicians” (Lippincott, Williams and Wilkins, PA), and “A Color Handbook of Endocrinology and Metabolism” (Manson, UK).
