, one of the most successful consulting firms in the health information technology (HIT) industry, will spotlight the strengths of its unmatched “Go-Live” during a live webinar on August 15 entitled, “Full Speed Ahead: Creating Go-Live Success.” The webinar, to be led by , will present a full view of the challenges most health systems face in bringing a new electronic health record (EHR) online -- including those implementation aspects frequently overlooked and under-resourced. Encore will also share its experiences and lessons learned after having supported 28 Go-Lives for 22 health facilities and more than 10,000 physicians during the past 18 months. Encore’s Activation Services provide program development and management of dedicated “at-the-elbow” (ATE) resources leading up to and beyond a health organization’s Go-Live, delivering comprehensive support to all end-users. Services support inpatient, ambulatory, and specialty module Go-Lives. They also encompass super users and vendor staff as well as experienced physician and non-physician supplemental resources, with all end-user support scheduled and managed centrally. The scope of Encore’s Activation Services also includes rigid pre-qualification processes that ensure the quality of ATE resources; single-point management of logistics and scheduling; robust supervision of ATE resources; and a post-project evaluation system that supports future qualification processes.

The company’s Activation Services managers and consultants bring deep experience and certifications in any applications involved. Encore’s ATE resources include physicians and nurses with extensive implementation support experience in both clinical documentation and CPOE modules as well as experienced support for non-clinical and Revenue Cycle applications. The ability to deliver high-quality resources of all types, with proven track records on previous activations, is a distinct advantage Encore consultants offer. In addition, Encore consultants are prepared to work with all vendor types, including Allscripts, Cerner, Epic, Meditech, and Soarian.

“Often, clients have little time between contracting for services and their actual Go-Lives, so the ability to respond on short notice with high-quality management and support resources is key to the success of activations,” said Binderman. “With the ability to provide a wide range of outstanding ATE resources that include physicians, respond quickly with little advance notice, and manage numerous logistical and staffing challenges, Encore is uniquely qualified to deliver optimal results on activation projects.”

Dr. Binderman is an OB/GYN with 25 years of experience in patient care, healthcare operations, and information technology. Her career experience encompasses physician adoption, clinical content management, order set development, CPOE implementation, closed-loop medication management, and clinical documentation. She has spoken nationally on CPOE, physician champion development, evidence-based clinical content development, and medication safety. She trained at Cornell University, Texas A & M, LSU, and ASU. She holds a BS in engineering in addition to an MD, MBA, and MHSA.

Encore’s Activation Services structure incorporates four delivery phases: Pre Go-Live Planning; Physician Support Strategy; Go-Live Support; and Post Go-Live Support Monitoring and Transition. In the last 18 months alone, Encore Activation Services have contributed to the success of Go-Lives for multiple clients who include health systems like Cedars-Sinai Health System, Centura Health, Christus Health, Froedtert Health, University of California Medical Center at San Francisco (UCSF), University Hospital Augusta, and Yuma Medical Center.

At UCSF, for example, Encore answered a request for assistance with physician Go-Live support. In the weeks preceding the Go-Live, Encore performed an assessment of the health system’s existing Go-Live plan and resources. Encore provided recruiting, onboarding, and training for 120 ATE support personnel and 50 physician advisors to cover literally around the clock for four weeks. “Encore was able to bring in strong, qualified, and talented physician-support consultants to meet our tight timeframe,” said Dr. Michael Blum, UCSF’s Vice Chancellor of Medical Informatics. “The team was adaptable to constantly changing requirements and time schedules.”

“We could not have done it without Encore!” said UCSF’s Jennifer Clarke, Manager, Clinical Analytics and Quality.

“Encore’s Activation Services assisted Yuma Regional Medical Center through our May 1, 2012 Go-Live of our electronic health record by bringing bright, real-world experienced professionals to augment our team,” said Gene Shaw, Chief Information Officer, Yuma Regional Medical Center. “We would not have been successful without them! I would definitely choose the Encore Team again!”
