Cigna is teaming up with Virgin Pulse to launch a new, personalized digital health program for its members.
The new platform will be available through the myCigna portal and allows users to set their personal health goals and track daily progress. They can then receive real-time feedback and guidance that's based on the data they've submitted, according to an announcement.
The tool will be offered to nearly 11 million members, Cigna said.
"Digital health programs improve health outcomes and enhance vitality for individuals and their communities," said Heather Dlugolenski, senior vice president of commercial strategy and solutions at Cigna Healthcare, in the release. "For employers, investing in employee well-being directly translates into a more productive workforce and a thriving business. That's what we're offering through this enhanced digital platform in partnership with Virgin Pulse."
Cigna said it will make the platform available beginning Jan. 1 to people enrolled in its employer plans. It intends to expand further over time.
In the tool, members can submit data either by connecting a smart device, such as an Apple Watch, or directly logging exercise, weight, sleep times and more. Users can then choose to share their data with family, friends and co-workers through the platform, encouraging one another to reach their health goals.
Through the member's submitted data as well as their preferences and claims experience, the myCigna portal can connect them to other programs that may be beneficial and are available in their benefits package, including behavioral healthcare and prediabetes management.
"We're excited to partner with Cigna Healthcare to improve whole person well-being by simplifying the experience through our best-in-class digital solution," said Chris Michalak, CEO of Virgin Pulse, in the release. "Together, we're committed to delivering innovative, data-driven digital health solutions designed to advance health in an engaging, personal and intuitive way."
