Centene is expanding its CHOICE Arrangements benefits program to its employees in Ohio and Oklahoma in the 2027 plan year.

Centene rolled out the Custom Health Option and Individual Care Expense Arrangements, formerly known as individual coverage health reimbursement arrangements, to its Indiana employees this year.

The insurer says the expansion is “building on the successful implementation” of the program in Indiana.

Centene CEO Sarah London said in a statement that the company believes coverage “should be as unique as the people it serves.”

“Our experience in Indiana has demonstrated the value of empowering employees with greater flexibility and choice in their healthcare decisions,” London said.

London added that expanding the program to other states “reflects our confidence in this model and our commitment to leading the evolution of affordable employer-sponsored healthcare.”

Since launching the program for Indiana-based employees in 2026, Centene has gained valuable insights into how personalized health coverage solutions can better meet the diverse needs of its workforce, executives said.

“As CHOICE Arrangements continue gaining momentum across the country, we are proud to put this innovation into practice within our own organization and demonstrate how it can deliver meaningful value for employees," Alan Silver, president of Centene's ICHRA-focused arm Ambetter Health Solutions, said in a statement.

Ambetter Health Solutions serves as Centene's dedicated off-Exchange Marketplace business line that supplies individual health insurance plans in 13 states, according to the Ambetter website. Becker's reported that Ambetter Health Solutions is expanding CHOICE Arrangements for employers to four more states, Alabama, Iowa, North Carolina and Pennsylvania, in 2027.

Earlier this week, the insurer also launched a nationwide gold card program in a bid to simplify the prior authorization process. The performance-based program will initially roll out to 160,000 eligible providers in November and will cover select outpatient services.

Centene plans to build the program out to additional service types and more providers in the future.
