Priority Health is first in Michigan to offer accredited wellness services

NCQA recognizes Priority Health for delivering proven value to employers and workers

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich.--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Priority Health is the only Michigan-based organization to earn Wellness & Health Promotion Accreditation by the National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA). Priority Health earned the recognition for delivering proven value to employers and workers with its wellness programs and services. Priority Health is one of only 20 organizations in the nation to earn this distinction.

“We have made a 25-year commitment to offer Michigan employers programs and services that effectively improve employee health and their bottom line. Earning accreditation from NCQA validates our hard work,” said Kimberly K. Horn, president and CEO for Priority Health. “But it also proves that Priority Health is ready and able to help support Governor Snyder and his recent challenge to Michigan businesses and residents to take control of their own health and to make Michigan healthy.”

A growing number of employers are offering wellness and health promotion programs to their workers to help improve their health and lower health care costs. A recent survey conducted by the ERISA Industry Committee and the National Association of Manufacturers, found 77 percent of America’s leading employers offer formal health and wellness programs.

NCQA’s Wellness & Health Promotion (WHP) program helps employers choose wisely and allow wellness companies to demonstrate the value of their products. Wellness & Health Promotion Accreditation comprehensively evaluates key areas of health promotion, including how wellness programs are implemented in the workplace, how services such as health coaching are provided to help eligible individuals develop skills to make healthy choices and how sensitive health information of eligible individuals is properly safeguarded.

“NCQA’s Wellness & Health Promotion Accreditation requires organizations to demonstrate their compliance with well-defined standards and quality measures," said Margaret E. O’Kane, NCQA President. “The NCQA seal will provide employers and consumers with the information they need to choose the best program in their markets.”

Priority Health is an industry leader in keeping members healthy by preventing illness, managing chronic conditions and ultimately reducing costs. The company's approach has a proven record of results, including:
