PNC Introduces Business Intelligence and Analytics for Healthcare Providers

-Business intelligence tool to identify operational inefficiencies, cost savings across healthcare administrative functions; addresses new tracking and reporting mandates-

PITTSBURGH, Feb. 13, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- PNC Healthcare, part of PNC Bank, National Association, announced today the addition of business intelligence and data analytics to its suite of products and services designed to meet the unique needs of its healthcare clients. PNC's new web-based solution is powered by Precision.BI, a proprietary analytics engine from Origin Healthcare Solutions, and delivered to healthcare customers via PNC's secure online banking platform for commercial customers.

The analytics tool aggregates financial data from a variety of legacy platforms and across multiple hospital systems to benefit many focus areas, including:

  • supply chain management
  • revenue cycle management
  • financial management
  • patient quality management
  • physician and practice management

Reports generated from the collected information may be used to identify operational efficiencies, better manage revenue streams and drive financial performance.

For more than 20 years, PNC has provided to healthcare providers and insurers an array of integrated solutions. PNC is one of the first banks to offer a healthcare business intelligence service in a hosted environment.  As a result, hospitals are spared costly investments in hardware add-ons.

"We are closely aligned with the healthcare industry and have clearly heard the challenges.  With the increasing pressure to deliver quality healthcare at a lower cost, decision makers are challenged, often because the vital information they need is spread out across multiple systems," said George Kerestly, senior vice president, PNC Healthcare. "With the business intelligence product in a hosted capacity, it made sense for us to seek out a leader in business intelligence to offer our healthcare customers this solution."

"Accessing and integrating financial and clinical data is critical to operating in today's complex healthcare environment, and our Precision.BI solution provides insight that will shape the future of healthcare," said Jeff Kvam, chief executive officer of Origin. "Our expertise in leveraging data analytics to optimize financial performance is a perfect complement to PNC Healthcare's suite of products."
