Over Ten Million Medicare Beneficiaries Have Been Enrolled Using a DRX Tool

Healthcare exchange leader surpasses milestone with ten million enrollee mark

LOS ANGELES--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- DRX, a leading provider of healthcare comparison tools, technology and data, today announced that over 10 million beneficiaries have been enrolled in a Medicare plan using the DRX’s licensed online suite of PlanCompare tools for drug and health plan comparison and enrollment.

“Exceeding the ten million enrollee mark is an exciting milestone in our company’s journey with the Medicare program,” said Toby Rogers, Chief Operating Officer of DRX. “Over the years, our plan comparison and enrollment technology has grown to meet the evolving needs of beneficiaries, carriers, brokers, agents and other organizations that license these exchange products. Ultimately, DRX tools not only help streamline Medicare enrollments, but also help reduce the cost of healthcare for all involved.”

DRX technology allows beneficiaries to make informed decisions about Medicare prescription drug plans, Medicare Advantage plans and Medicare Supplemental plans. The online tools for plan comparison and enrollment are available through Medicare.gov and through the web portals of America’s largest health plans, Fortune 500 employers, brokers, and consumer advocacy organizations. Using DRX tools, beneficiaries can select the most affordable Medicare plan based on total annual cost, which accounts for both premiums and out-of-pocket costs, and enroll in the best plan option. The tools facilitate enrollments and reduce costs for health plan providers, third-party organizations and consumers, impacting the overall Medicare system.

DRX began powering the exchanges for Medicare in 2004 with the licensing of proprietary plan comparison and enrollment technology to the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) for the Prescription Drug Discount Card Program. Medicare Part D and Medicare Advantage plan comparison and enrollment tools were added to this suite in 2005; Medicare Supplemental in 2010. In 2011, DRX launched BrokerLink, a national platform connecting Medicare health plans with senior sales organizations and other exchange providers to further streamline the beneficiary enrollment process using the PlanCompare suite of tools.
