Louisville mayor, Kentucky governor vow to keep Humana in city

Humana is an attractive acquisition target for insurers who want its booming Medicare Advantage business. With 12,000 employees, Humana is also the second-largest company in Louisville, Kentucky--and Mayor Greg Fischer (D) and Gov. Steve Beshear (D) said they are committed to keeping the company in the city, WDRB reported. Beshear said the insurer has been a "mainstay" of the Louisville economy for a long time, but he and Fischer admitted that there may not be much they can do if Humana is sold to an out-of-state firm. Aetna, Anthem and Cigna are rumored to be interested in acquiring Humana, FierceHealthPayer previously reported. Article
