GOP wants details about incorrect subsidies

Some Republican lawmakers are urging the Obama administration to explain why hundreds of thousands of people might have received incorrect subsidies for plans sold on the health insurance exchanges. Members of the House Energy and Commerce Committee mailed letters to the U.S. Department of Health & Human Services and three private contractors involved in processing exchange applications, reported The Hill's Healthwatch. "The administration's incompetence could mean big headaches for the Americans who struggled through HealthCare.gov only to be given the wrong information. ... It's time for the administration to be transparent with the American people," Committee Chairman Fred Upton (R-Mich.) wrote in the letters. The GOP members want HHS and the contractors to provide documents regarding the scope and details of the incorrect subsidies, when they learned about the problem, and what steps they're taking to address the inaccuracies. They also want briefings on the issue. Article
