NEW YORK, Oct. 16, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) has awarded EmblemHealth's Medicare HMO plan an overall rating of four stars for quality, the highest of any Medicare Advantage HMO in the New York City region.
All Medicare health and drug plans are rated overall on a one to five star scale, with one star representing poor performance, three stars representing average performance and five stars representing excellent performance. This overall rating summarizes more than 50 smaller measures that reflect how well plans deliver care and service. Plan performance Star Ratings are assessed each year and may change from one year to the next.
