The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services announced recently that state-based health insurance marketplaces have until 2017 to put their Small Business Health Options (SHOP) exchange enrollment systems online. In the fact sheet, CMS noted that state-based SHOPs must meet CMS requirements, which include providing the capability to file an application for SHOP eligibility and complete enrollment online. CMS added that SHOPs should work with the Department of Treasury to ensure that small employers can access the Small Business Health Care Tax Credit. Announcement (.pdf)
