AmeriHealth NJ Helps Consumers See Things More Clearly With Infographics

CRANBURY, N.J.--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- AmeriHealth NJ today released a series of visual infographics in an effort to provide consumers with important information in an easy-to-understand way. The infographics provide clarity on some of the more commonly used health insurance terms and also address vital health information.

“Infographics are an effective way to communicate important messages,” said Mike Munoz, vice president of sales and marketing for AmeriHealth NJ. “Whether it’s understanding what is available under a specific health insurance plan when a member receives care or helping an individual get valuable information that can have a positive impact on their health.”

  • The Visual Health Insurance Glossary breaks down the most common (and some of the more complex) health insurance terms in a simple and clear way. For example, the difference between a precertification and a referral are made clear and Usual, Customary and Reasonable Charges (URC) are explained.
  • The Lung Infographic provides educational biological information about how the lungs work including an interactive visual on what a healthy lung looks like compared to a smoker’s lung. The lung infographic also provides useful links to the American Lung Association for tips on how to take care of your lungs, as well as information on how to get help to quit smoking.
  • The Heart Infographic gives an up close look at a healthy heart compared to an unhealthy heart with an interactive sliding screen that allows you to see the difference between the two. It also provides tips for how to lower your risk for heart disease.

“We are always looking for ways to help our members achieve their individual health goals,” said Dr. Lisa Blondin, senior medical director for AmeriHealth NJ. “The purpose of the health-related infographics is to not only visually illustrate the dangers of unhealthy habits, but also offer useful tips on how to incorporate small changes that can make a big difference in a person’s life.”
