Amerigroup Now Serving Members in Louisiana

Louisiana Represents 12th State of Operations for Company

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va., Feb. 1, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Today Amerigroup Corporation (NYSE: AGP) begins serving members in its 12th state, Louisiana. Amerigroup Louisiana is one of five health plans selected by the state to serve more than 865,000 managed care beneficiaries in Louisiana under the state health plan, BAYOU HEALTH.

"BAYOU HEALTH is a landmark change for Louisiana that will transition most of the state's Medicaid population into managed care," remarked Amerigroup Chairman and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) James G. Carlson. "Our national expertise in coordinating care for low-income populations and people with disabilities will allow us to help Louisiana manage the healthcare needs of its citizens, while keeping it more affordable for taxpayers."

Amerigroup Louisiana will serve children, families, seniors and people with disabilities through the BAYOU HEALTH program.

The Amerigroup Louisiana plan will begin serving members today in the New Orleans and North Shore regions and will expand to Baton Rouge, Lafayette, Thibodaux as well as the North and West Regions by the end of the second quarter.

Currently, Amerigroup Louisiana has offices in Metairie and Baton Rouge and will be opening an office in Shreveport in the spring, adding close to 230 associates to its Louisiana and Virginia operations by June 1.

Last week, the Amerigroup Corporation raised the Louisiana state flag at its corporate headquarters in Virginia Beach, Va., to fly alongside the flags of the other 11 states it currently serves.
