Salar Among 100 Fastest-Growing Inner City Businesses

Baltimore-Based Health Care Software Company Ranks #56 on 2011 Inner City 100 List

BALTIMORE--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Salar, Inc., a provider of physician-friendly clinical documentation and billing software solutions for health care providers, has been named to the 2011 Inner City 100 list of the fastest-growing inner city companies in the U.S. by the Initiative for a Competitive Inner City and Fortune Magazine. The Inner City 100 program recognizes successful inner city companies and their CEO’s as role models for entrepreneurship, innovative business practices and job creation in America’s urban communities. With an annual growth rate of 27 percent over the past five years, Salar ranks #56 on this year’s list. The full list can be viewed at www.fortune.com/innercity100.

Based in the historic waterfront neighborhood of Fells Point, Salar’s proximity to many prominent East Coast hospitals and Baltimore’s sizable pool of talented, qualified people has helped fuel its growth. John Hopkins Hospital and Greater Baltimore Medical Center are among Salar’s local clients.

“Since our founding in 1999, Salar has been proud to call Baltimore City our home,” said Todd Johnson, President. “The area’s unbeatable combination of great business opportunities and great people are our competitive advantage.”

The rankings for each company were announced at the Inner City 100 Awards Dinner on Thursday, May 12, 2011 in Boston, MA. Winners attended a two-day event featuring seminars for Inner City 100 owners and managers at Harvard Business School, a procurement symposium and an awards gala that drew more than 500 guests.

For the 2011 list, a record number of two thousand nominations were received. Winners represent a wide span of geography, operating in 51 cities and 32 states. The 2011 Inner City 100 winners grew at a compound annual growth rate of 39 percent and an average standard growth rate of 379 percent between 2004 and 2009. Collectively, the top 100 inner city businesses employ 6,720 employees and have created more than 3,227 new jobs between 2005 and 2009.
