Rebecca Freeman is the newest addition to the Office of the National Coordinator for Health IT staff, tapped to be the agency's chief nursing officer, according to National Coordinator Karen DeSalvo.
Freeman will join ONC's Office of Clinical Quality and Safety, and will lead coordination of the agency's programs that impact the nursing community. She also will lead the agency's Clinical Informatics Grand Rounds, DeSalvo wrote in an email to staff, sent to FierceHealthIT.
Freeman previously held the role of Vice President and Epic Nurse Champion at Hospital Corporation of America.
"Rebecca's experience in implementing and using health IT systems--and her background in philosophy--make her a perfect complement to the team here at ONC," DeSalvo wrote.
