Radiology managers not confident about Medicare reimbursement

Radiology managers and imaging directors still have low expectations about the chance their facilities will receive adequate reimbursement from Medicare for diagnostic and interventional imaging services.

According to the latest Medical Imaging Confidence Index, radiology managers and directors have very low confidence their facilities will receive adequate reimbursement from Medicare in the fourth quarter of 2014. The survey of 133 imaging managers/directors of hospitals on imaging trend found the same result in the fourth quarter of 2013, according to Diagnostic Imaging.

In addition, radiology managers and directors are neutral about the prospects for growth in the fourth quarter, have low confidence they will have access to capital for imaging equipment and IT needs, and have high confidence imaging will stay--or grow--as a profit center. Article
