Physicians treating stroke patients at Palos Community Hospital soon will be able to receive extra care advice from neurologists at Loyola University Medical Center through a new telemedicine program.
The specialists at Loyola will be available 24/7 to assist Palos physicians, the school announced. They will use a telemedicine robot to conduct real-time patient exams.
"When a patient requires highly specialized stroke care, such as neurosurgery, our relationship with Loyola will provide access in a timely and efficient manner," Craig Adams, M.D., director of Hospital Medicine at Palos Community Hospital, said.
The telemedicine robot can send medical records, lab results and images over an Internet connection from the Palos Heights, Illinois, community hospital to Loyola. Announcement
