SALT LAKE CITY--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- MediConnect Global today announced it has added two internationally prominent healthcare leaders—Charles E. Johnson and Scott S. Parker—to its board of directors.

Parker is president emeritus of Intermountain Healthcare. He was named president on April 1, 1975, when the nonprofit health care system was formed, and he served in that position until his retirement in 1998. Under his leadership, Intermountain rose to national prominence, and has been named the top integrated healthcare organization in the U.S. by Modern Healthcare magazine and the SMG research firm. Parker is past president of the International Hospital Federation, an organization of more than 90 national hospital associations, and served as chair of the 4,000-plus-member American Hospital Association. He serves or has served on the boards of directors for multiple leading organizations, including the Huntsman Cancer Foundation, First Security Corporation, BMW Bank of North America and Questar Corporation, in addition to significant community service experience.
Johnson is currently a senior advisor at Leavitt Partners, a health care advisory firm led by former Utah Governor and U.S. Health and Human Services Secretary Michael O. Leavitt. In 2005, Johnson was appointed by President George W. Bush and confirmed by the United States Senate as assistant secretary for resources and technology at the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) in 2005, where he served until 2009. His HHS experience, which also included a stint as acting secretary of HHS, is the latest in a long line of significant leadership roles in public service. On the federal government level, he also served as CFO of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency. On the state level, Johnson served as: chief of staff for Governor Michael O. Leavitt; and as a member of the Utah Board of Regents, which directs the operations of all public institutions of higher learning, including five years as chair. Johnson’s private sector experience includes 31 years as a public accountant. He was on the board of directors of KPMG and chairman of its Merger Transition Committee. Johnson also served as president of the Huntsman Cancer Foundation, and was vice chair of the board for Garff-Warner.
