MapMyFitness, the Internet’s largest social fitness network, today welcomed Edward Hubbard to the team as Vice President, Platform Solutions. Hubbard brings more than twenty years of experience in a variety of leadership roles across strategic alliances, engineering, marketing, management and most recently as VP of Business Development at Uber Technologies. At Uber, Hubbard was responsible for closing strategic business deals with organizations such as the NFL Players Association, Facebook, Google and Virgin America, all of which contributed to Uber’s tremendous revenue growth as well as the company’s most recent $3B+ valuation.

"We are thrilled to have such a well-respected, forward thinker join our growing team,” said MapMyFitness CEO Robin Thurston. “Ed has a massive range of experience across both Internet technology, health and wellness and the convergence of the two sectors. Ed’s joining the team signifies a very exciting step forward for our increased investment in creating a truly open health and fitness network by providing the most innovative solutions available."

With nearly 20 million members and more than 400,000 activities logged daily in the MapMyFitness ecosystem, Hubbard will lead the company’s growing Platform Solutions practice, focusing on defining the company’s core APIs for partners interested in building and integrating fitness and health solutions on the MapMyFitness platform. He will also continue to grow the list of strategic partners utilizing the MapMyFitness APIs.

“Fitness and the convergence of human health and technology at the consumer level is fundamentally reshaping how we live,” said Hubbard. “MapMyFitness is perfectly positioned as the leader in this evolving market to supply the underlying infrastructure for every type of enterprise that wants to participate. There is a huge amount of invention yet to come and I’m looking forward to leading this effort.”

Prior to Uber, Hubbard led the Business Development team at Citrix that managed the company’s half billion dollar strategic relationship with Microsoft. He previously founded United Devices where he raised more than $40M in venture capital for the company and was personally named a Bio-IT World Champion. Hubbard built the company to millions of dollars in revenue while capturing 8 of the top 10 life sciences companies as customers - and more than 100 enterprise customers during his tenure - before the company’s acquisition by Univa.

Hubbard has played pivotal roles in a number of initiatives for the CTO of Dell as well as Dell's executive team and has also held various engineering, marketing and management positions at Intel and Microsoft. He is a published author, holds 19 issued patents and is the author of more than 30 patent applications.
