LAKELAND, Fla.--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Intelimedix, a leader in business intelligence for the healthcare insurance industry, today announced it tapped Michael A. Newman to lead the company’s latest initiative in healthcare informatics and expand its executive leadership team.

Former Vice President of Medical Informatics at Blue Cross Blue Shield of Florida (BCBSF), which serves more than 4.1 million members, Newman also served on the Intelimedix Board of Directors for three years. He joins the Intelimedix executive team as it focuses on helping health plans address healthcare affordability, cost containment, and improving quality of care in the emerging retail and traditional marketplaces.

“At BCBSF, Mike played a strategic role in the development of medical informatics infrastructure and analytical capabilities that enabled critical business processes. He is a proven leader from an outstanding company who brings hands-on experience and a unique perspective as both customer and director of Intelimedix. On behalf of our team, I am proud to welcome Mike to the company. He deepens our talent and broadens our expertise,” said Joel Portice, Intelimedix president and CEO.

Intelimedix achieved triple-digit growth in 2010 by successfully collaborating with multiple health plans throughout the country.
