HealthPartners announced today the release of its new treatment cost calculator, which will provide its members with a powerful new resource for comparing costs around health care procedures and services on a national level.

HealthPartners members can now search and compare credible cost information on more than 280 services for doctors, clinics and hospitals across the nation using their own benefit information. The easy-to-use tool is available at no additional cost to employers and HealthPartners members.

The new cost calculator gives members a 24/7 national shopping experience. Access to this information lets members plan ahead for health care costs resulting in better health care choices. Other capabilities include:

“The treatment cost calculator is one more way HealthPartners continues to empower our members to take charge of their health care and make informed decisions,” said Andrea Walsh, chief marketing officer at HealthPartners. “Information is power for our members, but only if that information is understandable, user-friendly and easy to find. Our new treatment cost calculator puts cost and treatment information at consumers' fingertips so they can shop our national network of providers, compare pricing and make choices that are best suited to their needs."

This is the second of three new member-focused initiatives being rolled out by HealthPartners. The first, with Assist America Inc., recently enabled members to get health care support while traveling. These initiatives aim to ensure an exceptional experience for members, something the Bloomington-based company has been recognized for by respectable organizations. Most recently, J.D. Power awarded HealthPartners for having the “Highest Member Satisfaction among Commercial Health Plans in the Minnesota/Wisconsin Region.” about the J.D. Power recognition.

Founded in 1957, the HealthPartners () family of health care companies serves more than 1.4 million medical and dental health plan members nationwide. It is the largest consumer-governed, nonprofit health care organization in the nation providing care, coverage, research and education to improve the health of members, patients and the community. HealthPartners is the top-ranked commercial health plan in Minnesota according to NCQA's Private Health Insurance Plan Rankings 2012-13.*
