Health Access Solutions’ Clients Earn CAPG Elite Status

Recognition Stems from Organizations’ Visionary Use of Innovative Coordinated Care Platform

FOSTER CITY, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Health Access Solutions, offering its Web-based multidisciplinary Coordinated Care Platform, today congratulated several clients that have been recognized as Elite organizations through the 2011 California Association of Physician Groups (CAPG) Standards of Excellence Program. The 2011 Elite honorees that rely upon Health Access Solutions’ Access Express™ care management system to help them efficiently oversee various dimensions of quality monitoring, utilization and case management include the Individual Practice Association Medical Group of Santa Clara County (SCCIPA), Greater Newport Physicians, Heritage Provider Network, North American Medical Management California, Inc., and UCLA Medical Group.

These organizations join a distinguished field of 25 medical groups that have earned the honor from CAPG, a professional association comprised of more than 150 of California's leading physician groups. These groups employ and/or contract with physicians who in turn provide healthcare services to approximately 13 million Californians. More than 50% of California's healthcare is delivered by physicians employed by or contracted with CAPG members.

The CAPG Standards of Excellence Program is centered upon an extensive survey assessing four distinct attributes that characterize highly effective provider groups: care management processes, health information technology applications, accountability and transparency, and patient-centered care. “This is a great accomplishment for SCCIPA,” says Lori Vatcher, chief operating officer of Pacific Partners Management Services, Inc. (PPMSI), the management services arm of SCCIPA. “We are very proud to have participated in this prestigious program – and especially to have achieved Elite status.”

Key to this recognition, she notes, is its use of the Health Access Solutions Web-based care management software, Access Express. “With Access Express, we are able to implement our care management programs across the SCCIPA network of more than 850 physicians, allowing them access to essential administrative and clinical information necessary to treat, manage and provide referrals for their patients. We know it is more cost effective and results in higher quality of care when physicians can easily communicate with each other about a patient’s treatment.”

Leigh Hutchins, president and chief operating officer, North American Medical Management (NAMM) California, Inc., adds, “We rely on IT solutions such as Access Express to help our staff and physician network efficiently monitor and manage quality performance benchmarks in ways that lead to continuous improvement.”

“All of the organizations that have earned CAPG Elite status are high performers and have demonstrated their dedication to keeping pace with the rising standards for excellence in California healthcare,” says Don Crane, president and CEO of CAPG. “The rest of the country is watching these organizations as it seeks answers to the challenge of meaningful reform.”
