Welch Allyn Recognizes Sales Excellence with Prestigious President’s Cup

Top Sales Professionals Lauded for Outstanding Performance

SKANEATELES FALLS, N.Y.--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Welch Allyn, a leading manufacturer of frontline medical products and solutions, recently honored two North American sales professionals with outstanding performance awards at its 2011 Sales Meeting held May 2nd through 4th in Naples, FL. Ambulatory Care Sales Representative Dan Cheever and Hospital Account Manager Carl Huether were winners of the prestigious Welch Allyn President’s Cup, an award given annually to the company’s top sales professionals in both ambulatory care and acute care markets in the United States and Canada.

Winner in the ambulatory care category, Dan Cheever joined Welch Allyn five years ago with a background in medical sales and distribution. He was selected for the President’s Cup for his outstanding working relationships with Welch Allyn distribution partners, exceptional product knowledge, and an awareness of current market trends that have allowed him to capture significant opportunities with community health centers, large physician groups, and targeted independent dealer networks.

“Dan has seen his overall sales volume grow steadily, and last year marks the second straight that he exceeded his overall quota—with a particularly strong finish in the strategic growth product category,” said Bill Sweeney, Northeast regional manager. “I have yet to meet a distributor working with Dan who has not praised his professionalism, product knowledge, and ability to form personal relationships that further customer confidence in Welch Allyn and its products. We congratulate him for this outstanding accomplishment.”

Winner of the President’s Cup in the acute care category, Carl Huether has an exceptional nine-year sales record with Welch Allyn, which includes six top 10 finishes. He was recognized for furthering sales in his region by pioneering opportunities in untapped areas, converting customers to Welch Allyn products, and a commitment to training and mentoring new hires. His skills have been recognized outside of Welch Allyn as well, as he was the first sales representative in his region to be nominated by Cardinal Health for a Partnership in Excellence Award.

“Carl Huether is, perhaps, the most thorough and complete salesperson I have worked with,” said Pat Schiek, vice president, Acute Care, Corporate & Strategic Accounts. “He works the entire Welch Allyn portfolio, utilizing every resource available to him, and he understands that relationships are the key to being consistently successful. He may also be one of the most tenacious people I have come across. Even when the odds are stacked against him, he persists in selling. Carl is truly deserving of the Welch Allyn President’s Cup.”

According to John Tierney, senior vice president, U.S. and Canada, Welch Allyn upholds only the highest standards during the review of nominees each year for the President’s Cup.

“We have selected two outstanding individuals who demonstrate the very best in attitude, aptitude and performance for Welch Allyn,” said Tierney. “We are proud to have the commitment and talents of Dan and Carl on the Welch Allyn team, as their abilities help further excellent customer relationships, drive sales, and continue to put Welch Allyn products into the hands of healthcare professionals everywhere.”
