Vocera and ExperiaHealth Join Forces to Deliver Improved Patient Experience

SAN JOSE, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Vocera Communications, Inc., announced today it has acquired ExperiaHealth, the nation’s leading resource for hospitals seeking to provide world-class patient experience. ExperiaHealth was co-founded in 2009 by Dr. M. Bridget Duffy, the nation’s foremost authority on patient experience, and David R. Strand, formerly the COO of Cleveland Clinic, one of the premier healthcare organizations in the world.

ExperiaHealth works with the nation’s top healthcare institutions, including Mayo Clinic, Kaiser Permanente and HCA, to help them design and implement solutions that create a competitive advantage through a differentiated patient experience in their healthcare systems.

“We are very excited to have ExperiaHealth join the Vocera team to help our hospital customers deliver a better patient experience,” said Bob Zollars, Chairman and CEO of Vocera. “While our products are an important part of the solution, the services the ExperiaHealth team delivers humanize the patient experience and enable significant improvement in patient satisfaction, clinical outcomes, safety and financial performance.”

“With Vocera’s backing, ExperiaHealth will be able to rapidly expand the patient experience services it provides to its current and future customers,” said Dr. Duffy. “We will work with Vocera to build the nation’s first comprehensive patient experience company.”

Communication is the leading cause of sentinel events and often the most problematic patient experience challenge facing hospitals, physicians and nurses. Working together, Vocera and ExperiaHealth will be able to offer new, innovative solutions to improve communication and overall patient experience.

ExperiaHealth will operate as a subsidiary of Vocera under Dr. Duffy’s continued leadership. Mr. Strand will continue his San Francisco-based healthcare consulting and management services business, KenwoodHealth Group.
