UniNet Selects MedVentive to Support ACO Initiative

UniNet Healthcare Network Focuses on Accountable Care Principles to Improve Employee Health

WALTHAM, Mass. & OMAHA, Neb.--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- UniNet, a leading Physician Hospital Organization based in Omaha, Nebraska, has selected MedVentive to support its newest initiative to improve the quality and cost of care. UniNet will actively manage the health and financial risk of employees at Alegent Health and Creighton University Medical Center. UniNet represents employed and independent physicians from eleven hospitals and affiliated ancillaries spread across metropolitan, suburban, and rural areas to deliver effective care to the communities they serve.

“With MedVentive, we will be able to deploy a comprehensive suite of tools throughout our healthcare community that will allow us to proactively identify opportunities for improvement and perform timely outreach to physicians and patients. We will focus on improved quality and financial performance, which will result in achieving our targeted savings goals,” said Ann Oasan, Executive Director, UniNet Healthcare Network.

UniNet will utilize MedVentive’s best practices and associated tools and technology to identify opportunities for improvement in areas such as physician efficiency, clinical guideline compliance, pharmacy, and both inpatient and outpatient utilization, and then initiate automated outreach programs that improve member health. For example, MedVentive helps practices move from insights to actions by delivering specific care or drug substitution recommendations – in real time – to drive best practices. This is obtained by a deep understanding of provider organizations and the healthcare environment, including emerging models of care and new contract structures. UniNet will utilize MedVentive’s flexible technology platform as the foundation of their quality and pharmacy improvement programs, an important step on the path to accountable care.

“UniNet is positioned to have a significant positive impact on healthcare in their area. With the ACO initiative they have planned, supported by MedVentive’s technology and tools, UniNet will be a leader in reforming healthcare to achieve their quality and efficiency goals,” said Dr. Jonathan Niloff, CMO and Founder.

UniNet Healthcare Network (UniNet) is a not-for-profit Physician Hospital Organization (PHO) providing managed care services to seven medium-sized metropolitan hospitals located in the Omaha-Council Bluffs metropolitan area; four rural hospitals located in Iowa and Nebraska; a comprehensive array of ancillary programs serving the region; and over 1,000 metropolitan and rural health care physicians and over 300 mid-level providers. The PHO currently maintains managed care contracts with many different networks and payors, which provide healthcare services to approximately 550,000 covered lives in the region.

UniNet’s mission is an umbrella organization clinically integrating medical care providers by promoting superior quality, safety, and efficiency for our communities. We unite our providers through education, disease management, performance review, delegated credentialing and contracting.

About MedVentive

While healthcare was evolving the concept of an accountable care organization, MedVentive was busy operating as one. MedVentive was founded as the Provider Service Network (PSN) in 1997 by the CareGroup Healthcare System, an integrated, at-risk network of 4,500 physicians and eight hospitals that cared for more than 450,000 at-risk patients.

Our origins as an ACO give MedVentive a deep understanding of provider organizations and the healthcare environment. Having been an at-risk provider network, MedVentive is uniquely qualified to support an organization’s transition from a fee-for-service payment environment to risk-based contracting, and provide the clinical integration/population management infrastructure necessary to be successful under this new model.
