Tech Data And gloStream To Help Resellers Build Healthcare IT Practices

Tech Data’s Healthcare SBU Adds gloStream’s Electronic Medical Records and Practice-Management Software to Its Expanding Healthcare IT Solutions Offering

CLEARWATER, Fla.--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Tech Data Corporation (NASDAQ:TECD), a leading distributor of IT products, today announced a distribution agreement with gloStream, a leading developer of electronic medical records (EMR) and practice-management (PM) software applications. gloStream’s Microsoft® Office-based EMR and PM applications are designed for efficient deployment and easy use by small and medium-sized doctors’ offices and clinics. They help medical practices improve patient care, streamline operations and qualify for EMR adoption incentives created by the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA).

“A priority for Tech Data’s Healthcare SBU has been to identify vendors who not only bring specialized solutions to the market but who also understand the value of partnering with resellers,” said Tech Data Vice President Government, Healthcare and Technical Services Barb Miller. “gloStream — while not partnered with a distributor like Tech Data until now — has always worked through a network of reseller partners to bring their solutions to doctors nationwide. We will help gloStream expand that partner network, enabling them to engage our nationwide TechMed Alliance of healthcare IT resellers.”

“This is a once in a lifetime opportunity for the partner community since the vast majority of doctors’ offices will be converting to electronic medical record systems over the next few years,” said Mike Sappington, gloStream’s CEO. “Our relationship with Tech Data will be an important component in helping our partners build strong healthcare IT practices and bring complete EMR and PM solutions to the ambulatory healthcare market. Tech Data has a great network of experienced partners who have the skills to be successful in healthcare IT and who are in the perfect position to help doctors make the required transition from paper charts to the digital world. We’re very excited to be working together.”

According to gloStream, ARRA provides more than $20 billion in incentives to Medicare and Medicaid providers who implement certified EMR solutions. The company estimates the total number of physician practices in the United States tops 230,000, 95 percent of which are small offices and only 5 to 10 percent of which have adopted EMR solutions.

Complete EMR Solutions For Doctors’ Offices

Tech Data distributes gloEMR and gloPM, gloStream’s flagship EMR and PM solutions, as stand-alone products or bundled, custom-configured solutions comprising servers, systems, mobile devices, scanners and printers. gloStream products are integrated with Microsoft® Office, leveraging the familiar functionality of those applications to make the software easy for new users to learn.

From the office or a remote location, gloEMR enables doctors to efficiently and securely manage patient records, diagnoses and treatment plans; confirm procedural codes; assign work to staff; review and share images such as MRI scans and X-rays; order, track and verify all prescriptions; scan and store all paper documents; and easily share information with health information exchanges. gloPM enables offices to more efficiently manage operations from a single dashboard, including scheduling, billing, insurance claims submission, reporting and forecasting.

gloUniversity, gloStream’s in-house training resource, provides courses that ensure partners are prepared to sell, install and support medical practice software. gloStream also offers its partner community sales, marketing and technical support and a series of online collaboration tools.

Next month, gloStream will attend Tech Data’s Technology Solutions Tour in Las Vegas, which will explore how resellers can work with Tech Data and its vendor partners to build profitable healthcare IT solutions practices.
