SuccessEHS Client Among First to Receive National Recognition for Patient-Centered Medical Home

BIRMINGHAM, Ala., June 14, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- SuccessEHS client, Northwest Health Services, was among the nation's first Federally Qualified Health Centers (FQHCs) to receive National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA) Recognition for Patient-Centered Medical Home. The Patient-Centered Medical Home (PCMH) is the foundation upon which Accountable Care Organizations (ACOs) are built; this recognition is part of a cooperative effort between the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) and the National Association for Community Health Centers (NACHC).  Fourteen FQHCs received this noteworthy recognition; Northwest Health Services operates three of the recognized sites. Each of Northwest Health Services' three sites received Level 3 Recognition, the highest level of recognition awarded.

Since going live with the SuccessEHS solution seven years ago, Northwest Health Services has prioritized solution optimization in order to increase speed, improve operations, and expedite workflow within each office. Northwest Health Services' Chief Executive Officer, Ben Ernst cites this commitment to ongoing learning and improvement as a critical factor in receiving the NCQA-PCMH recognition. Says Ernst, "Although you can be recognized without an EHR, having one makes receiving recognition much easier. As the standards for meeting NCQA recognition continue to change, as they do every five years, you've got to be on top. You can't wait until the fifth year to get ready."

Ernst emphasized the importance of this continued education after recognition, saying, "The recognition designates that you have the tools and process in place for patient-centered care, but you have to be a learning organization for your practice to provide the right care, at the right time, in the right place."

Northwest Health Services is a nonprofit, community-owned organization that has been serving Missouri communities for more than 25 years. To learn more about Northwest Health Services, click here.
