Statement from North Shore-LIJ Health System and CEO Michael Dowling and Bill Rudin on approval of St. Vincent's sale

Today, the U.S. Bankruptcy Court approved the sale of St. Vincent's Catholic Medical Center's West Village campus to the North Shore-LIJ Health System and the Rudin Family. The following is a joint statement from North Shore-LIJ President and CEO Michael Dowling and Bill Rudin of the Rudin Family:

"With today's approval by the Bankruptcy Court, West Siders are one step closer to having access to the high-quality emergency care they need. We're especially pleased the judge confirmed what we've been hearing repeatedly from residents, business owners and community leaders-the historic agreement reached last month by St Vincent's, North Shore-LIJ and the Rudin family is a great deal for the community and would ensure an innovative, return of comprehensive health care to the neighborhood. We look forward to securing the necessary approvals from city and state officials and working closely with the community so that we can restore high-quality healthcare on the West Side by 2013."
