SPOTLIGHT: Deloitte skewered in Irish payroll debacle


In Ireland, a payroll system set up by the National Health Service is not performing quite as well as advertised and is costing some 20 times more than originally forecast. A series of incidents in which employees have been overpaid by millions of Euros has brought negative press coverage on the system, which is best known by its acronym--PPARS. Now officials at the Ministry of Health admit that the project, which was being managed by Deloitte, may have to be scrapped.
