Secretary Sebelius to visit Houston, tour Ben Taub General Hospital and address the American Medical Student Association

WHAT:

  Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius will visit Houston to discuss how hospitals and health care providers are finding innovative ways to improve patient care. She will tour Ben Taub General Hospital, which has been a leader in hospital innovation through care coordination, usage of information technology, and prevention efforts. Secretary Sebelius will highlight how hospitals and health care providers around the country are finding innovative ways to improve care by promoting care coordination, using health information technology and emphasizing prevention, and how the Obama Administration is supporting those efforts, in particular through the health reform law, the Affordable Care Act. Following her visit to Ben Taub General Hospital, she will deliver remarks at the American Medical Student Association’s 2012 Annual Convention, emphasizing how medical students can become leaders in the field and the Obama Administration’s health care innovation efforts.
