SCIOinspire’s Duncan to Present Diabetes Management Strategies at The Forum 10

Industry Thought Leader Discusses How Care Management Strategies in PCP Practices Can Lower Costs and Improve Outcomes

HARTFORD, Conn.--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- SCIOinspire, Corp., a premier provider of analytics-driven business process solutions for health plans and hospitals, today announced that SCIOinspire’s Ian Duncan FSA, FIA, FCIA, MAAA, will be speaking at The Forum 10, in Washington, DC. Duncan will present at a session titled “Managed Diabetes Care in a Private Practice Setting,” in conjunction with Dr. Ken Goldblum of the Renaissance Medical Management Company (RMMC), at 1 p.m. Oct. 13.

“Primary care practices provide an ideal setting for effective management of diabetes and other chronic conditions,” says Duncan. “With proper incentives and support, PCPs can produce significant improvements in outcomes for patients with chronic illnesses.”

Duncan and Goldblum will outline analytics-driven care management strategies, which include tele-monitoring of high-risk patients or those with chronic illnesses to replace costly routine clinic, office or home visits. “These improvements,” adds Duncan, “can lead to lower overall cost of care, and reduce the severity of the disease and development of co-morbidities.”

Ian Duncan is president of Solucia Consulting, a SCIOinspire company. Duncan has 30 years of experience in healthcare and insurance product design, management, financing, pricing and delivery. He holds a post-graduate degree in economics from Balliol College, Oxford, and is a fellow of the Society of Actuaries. He serves on the boards of directors of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts Healthcare Connector Authority and SynCare LLC.

The Forum 10, the annual conference of the Care Continuum Alliance, focuses on cost-effective approaches to care that improve the quality of patient life and reduce the severity of chronic disease. Sessions at The Forum will cover incentives and engagement, care coordination, transitions in care, and other timely issues for all stakeholders in wellness and population health management.
