Rush University Medical Center Selects Zix Corporation for Secure Email

Market leader to provide email encryption to 8,000 users

CHICAGO & DALLAS--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Zix Corporation (ZixCorp), (NASDAQ: ZIXI), the leader in email encryption services, was selected to provide email encryption services to Rush University Medical Center, a not-for-profit academic medical center in Chicago, in a new three-year contract. Email encryption enables secure email for 8,000 Rush users, including physicians, nurses, staff, students, faculty and researchers.

Rush considered many email encryption options and providers, including bundled packages with free email encryption from leading technology vendors. In its evaluation of email encryption solutions, Rush reviewed product functionality, ease of use, administrative set-up, price and the solution’s compliance with healthcare regulations. ZixCorp emerged as the obvious choice due to ZixCorp’s leadership in the email encryption market.

“We reviewed many providers in the email encryption community and found ZixCorp was the leader and an easy choice for our Email Steering Committee,” said Jaime Parent, Vice President of Information Technology Operations and Associate Chief Information Officer of Rush. “Rush University Medical Center's core values — innovation, collaboration, accountability, respect and excellence — are the roadmap to our mission and vision. We are very pleased that ZixCorp was able to work with us, understand our mission and vision and provide the right solution campus-wide.”

ZixGateway®, a policy-based email encryption solution, enables Rush users to conveniently send secure email. ZixGateway automatically scans outbound email for sensitive information, including protected health information, and it will assist Rush in meeting compliance standards and protecting the privacy of its patients and students when communicating through email.

“Rush University Medical Center is one of Chicago’s top-ranked medical institutions. We are proud to have been selected to meet their needs for email security,” said Rick Spurr, ZixCorp’s Chairman and Chief Executive Officer. “We deliver a solution that leads the industry in convenience, for senders and receivers which in turn results in improved usage, compliance and productivity. It just simply works, and we want customers to know that ZixCorp Email Encryption is a simple answer among the many security and compliance challenges faced today.”
