Empire Blue Cross Blue Shield of New York and RelayHealth said they will significantly expand a pilot project that allowed members to sign up for online consultations. The service, which will be known as WebVisits, will allow 400,000 members of the health plan to sign up for "virtual visits" via email and the RelayHealth website. The partners recently completed an 18-month pilot of the technology that offered the service to 3,000 patients at Columbia University in New York. Patients will be charged $25 for each online consultation.
