Quality Partners of Rhode Island Named a Regional Extension Center (REC) Consultant on Electronic Health Records (EHR)

“HIT Advisors” Will Now Be Part of RI REC Vendor Marketplace, Serving Physician Offices Seeking to Deploy Electronic Health Record (EHR) Technology

PROVIDENCE, R.I.--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Quality Partners of Rhode Island, a nationally recognized leader in health care quality improvement, today announced that it has been selected to participate in the Rhode Island Regional Extension Center’s (RI REC) Vendor Marketplace. Quality Partners’ participation in the Vendor Marketplace will give Rhode Island physicians access to the organization’s Health Information Technology (HIT) Advisors’ expertise and services. To date, Quality Partners’ HIT Advisors have assisted over 100 Rhode Island practices in preparing for and implementing electronic health records (EHRs).

“As the only RI-based, vendor-neutral, nonprofit member of the Vendor Marketplace, Quality Partners is uniquely positioned to serve the Rhode Island physician community,” said John Keimig, president and CEO of Quality Partners of Rhode Island. “Our value to this Marketplace is further enhanced by the fact that we are also the Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS), Medicare Quality Improvement Organization (QIO) for Rhode Island and are deeply integrated into the Rhode Island physician community through our work with the Rhode Island Chronic Care Collaborative (RICCC) and the Rhode Island Chronic Care Sustainability Initiative (CSI-RI).”

In the REC marketplace, physicians can find vendors and implementation consultants, compare services, and access standardized tools and services for effective implementation. By identifying qualified EHR vendors and consultants, the REC helps doctors choose and implement EHRs quickly and with reduced risk of failed installations.

The REC was formed under a federal grant intended to assist healthcare providers in adopting EHRs and achieve Meaningful Use of EHRs. The RI REC is a program of the Rhode Island Quality Institute (RIQI).

“Improved use of technology in physicians’ offices and hospitals is leading to overall improvement in the quality, safety and efficiency of the healthcare delivered to the citizens of Rhode Island,” added Keimig.
