PYA Affiliate President Named to Texas Healthcare Quality Panel

March 26, 2012 - Ron Luke, JD, PhD, president of Research and Planning Consultants, an affiliate company of Pershing Yoakley & Associates, has been named by Gov. Rick Perry to the Board of Directors of the new Texas Institute of Health Care Quality and Efficiency.

The 13‐member panel was created by the Texas Legislature to improve healthcare quality, accountability, education and cost to the state by encouraging healthcare provider collaboration, effective healthcare delivery models and coordination of healthcare services. Luke's term expires Jan. 31, 2015.

"This is an extremely high and well‐deserved honor for Ron," said Ed Pershing, president of PYA, which has a joint office with RPC in Austin. "He brings to the Texas board more than three decades of experience and expertise in healthcare matters. We congratulate Ron and are delighted to have him as part of our team."

Luke, president of RPC, received his bachelor's degree from Harvard College and master's and doctoral degrees in public policy from the Harvard University JFK School of Government. He also earned a law degree from the University of Texas School of Law, and a Doctorate of Public Policy.

RPC assists health law attorneys, hospitals, medical systems, physician practices, government agencies, and other healthcare organizations with legal and administrative proceedings. It also provides clients with economic damages analyses, personal injury and business litigation, Certificates of Need, and healthcare consulting services.

Luke is a member of the State Bar of Texas, National Association of Forensic Economists, Society for Healthcare Strategy and Market Development, and the Medical Group Management Association, and a board member and executive committee member of the Texas Association of Business.

He is director of the Harvard Club of Austin, a district advancement chairman of the Capitol Area Council of the Boy Scouts of America, and past board chairman of the Easter Seals of Central Texas. He is also a past appointee to the Texas Health and Human Services Council and Texas Health Care Information Council. He served in the U.S. Army.
